Berlin- It was a difficult pill to swallow for all in Blue and White on Saturday, as Niklas Stark’s late own goal handed Hertha defeat to Stuttgart on matchday 18. Here’s what the Hertha players made of the loss on the road.
Marvin Plattenhardt: We had some good chances in the first half, but we were not 100% in the second period. Then you get an own goal go against you and all of a sudden you go away with nothing. It’s annoying and frustrating for us but we’ll go again. We want to get something from the next game, and last year we were able to beat Dortmund. There are many games to go and our goal remains to be in the top 10 at the end of the year. We will achieve that if we stick together.
Fabian Lustenberger: We should have won that game because over the course of the 90 minutes we were the better side and had we had the better chances. But you cannot by a win you have to earn it, and today was a kick in the teeth. It doesn’t matter who the next opponent is we want to take something from the game. We played well. We moved the ball well and left no gaps at the back. We can take confidence.
Davie Selke: It was not a good way to end. We started well and were strong in the first half. They sat back somewhat but we should have taken something from this game. We worked some good opening, and we usually take those. The last pass was just missing today. We were dangerous, so to leave having lost 1-0 is such a shame. We don’t need to get behind Niklas any more than usual. Things like that can happen, and you don’t need to say anything to that. He played a very good game, just like ‘Lusti’.
