Berlin– Hertha BSC and Valentin Stocker have reached an agreement that will see the midfielder return to his native Switzerland and join FC Basel on a permanent deal after three years in Berlin. “Valentin gave everything during his time with us and helped the team with some important goals. He has been short of game time recently because of injury and he has not played as much as he would have hoped. As a result we have agreed to his wish of a move and we want to wish him all the best back in Switzerland,” said sporting director Michael Preetz following the move on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old appeared 76 times for Hertha, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists and his record of three goals and eight assists in his first season in the capital helped Hertha survive relegation. He has represented his country 36 times, scoring six times and taking part in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He returns to the club where he joined Hertha from in 2014, where he has previously won six league titles.
