Michael Preetz has been at Hertha for over ten years, first as a player, before moving into the club management after hanging his playing boots up. From 1986 to 2003, Preetz played Bundesliga football for Fortuna Düsseldorf (38 matches/5 goals), MSV Duisburg (23/2) and Hertha BSC (196/84). He also played in the second divion for Fortuna Düsseldorf (50/15), 1. FC Saarbrücken (70/28), SG Wattenscheid 09 (60/17) and Hertha (31/9).
Preetz played Bundesliga football for Hertha between 1997 and 2003. In 1999 after scoring 23 goals he was crowned Bundesliga top scorer. He became Hertha captain and until this day is the club all-time goal scorer with their impressive record of 93 goals in 227 appearances. Whilst a player, Preetz won the League Cup twice with Hertha, and played Champions League football for them during the 1999/00 season. He played in 3 UEFA Cup competitions for the capital city club. Preetz was capped 7 times by Germany, scoring three goals for them, including what was their 1,500th goal.
From 1994 until 2003, Preetz was vice-president of the players union. He also studied sport management and won a degree in that field. He has been part of the Hertha management since 2003. In 2006 Preetz became head of the player management set-up, before becoming the Hertha manager in 2009. Preetz was given an award by te city of Berlin in 2003, for his relentless work to promote tolerance and integration in the multi-cultural capital city.

Ingo Schiller has been in the Bundesliga for almost 20 years. The first six years were spent at fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, where Schiller was their marketing manager, and manager of the stadium-building committee. In 1998, Schiller took his place on the Hertha board as manager of the Hertha BSC KG mbH aA. Thanks to his financial prowess, Hertha is on the road to financial success.
